Why my toolbox so dirty

Oh, right. I’ve never cleaned a tool once in my life. Changed that today.

Here’s how it looked to start:

Empty, here’s the top tray, all the tools, and main part:

Greasy greasy greasy. There was also a bunch of loose nails and screws in the bottom, plus some pencils. Let’s begin. I just threw stuff on a towel, blasted it with Simple Green, and wiped it off. Simple Green makes the air taste fun.

I should probably give my dad some of his wrenches back. I won’t, though

A few others I didn’t snag pictures of, and put it all away.

Next step: An organizer to keep it more neat and not just “pile of wrenches” :D

I’d like to do that (the way it all shifts around and rattles when I’m driving bugs me), but that sounds like $$$

I need one of those too. Maybe like mini tool rolls for each set of wrenches, but I never cared enough to look. I just try and use sockets as much as I can.

I give extra greasy tools a wipe. I give extra rusty tools some lube. For the most part tho, they live lives of tools, not super models.

Hey I have the same box (i nherited from my father)! I cle an ed it up and repainted it recently.

It’s a good box. My dad has a similar one, two latches, one lock strap thingy, different logo. The two of us and my older brother all have Craftsman toolboxes, none of them with the same latches.

I got a screwdriver out yesterday to change a bulb and my hand was black and gross when I was done. I don’t mind oily tools, but I’d rather them be not terribly dirty. Plus I had nothing to do today.

I just noticed yours doesn’t have the lock strap. T hey are great boxes. A little heavy once they are full of tools, but will last forever.

Yeah, I should have taken the tool backpack I was issued at my last internship, this box absolutely sucks to carry around junkyards.

Nice! I should do a toolbox post some time. I need to reorganize it a bit though. 

I think I have one similar to yours floating around somewhere, too. It’s missing the tray though.

Yeah. That scr ewdriver might have gotten a wipe from me too. Usually they do since most of the stuff I work on is extra greasy.

I have not had one of those “ I have nothing to do today” days in a while.

Doggos keep me busy during down time.
